Competitions
FTC Competitions are more than just robotics—they’re a journey of innovation, teamwork, and determination. Each season, teams take on an exciting challenge, designing and programming robots to tackle real-world problems in a dynamic, fast-paced game. But FTC is about more than just winning—it’s about pushing boundaries, thinking creatively, and working together to overcome obstacles. Every competition is a chance to showcase hard work, inspire others, and be part of a global community of future engineers, leaders, and changemakers.
What is FTC?
FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a global robotics competition for students in grades 7-12, where teams design, build, and program robots to complete challenges in an exciting game. Organized by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology), FTC encourages creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork while applying real-world STEM skills. Teams compete in alliances, earn awards for innovation and outreach, and develop engineering and programming expertise. More than just a competition, FTC fosters a community of young engineers and leaders, inspiring the next generation of innovators.

2x Connect Award
In the Into the Deep season of FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), the Connect Award is given to a team that connects with their local STEM community and helps others learn about FIRST. This award recognizes teams that actively reach out to engineers, professionals, and organizations while demonstrating how FIRST has impacted them. Our team has won this award at the FiT-Central HSATigers and the FiT-Central Semi-Area Championship.
Finalist Alliance
The Finalist Award in FIRST Tech Challenge – Into the Deep is given to teams that advance to the finals and perform well in elimination rounds. It recognizes strong strategy, teamwork, and adaptability, even if the team finishes as a runner-up. At the FiT-Central Semi-Area Championship, our team, ICBC ITKAN Ravenbots (#27859), earned this award, proving we could compete with the best.
2nd Place Alliance
At the LightSaders Rookie Invitational, our team, ICBC ITKAN Ravenbots (#27859), was part of the 2nd Place Alliance, finishing as runners-up in the elimination rounds. This alliance, made up of the captain, first pick, and sometimes a second pick, battled through tough matches to reach the finals. Though we didn’t take first place, securing this spot proved our ability to compete at a high level, even as a rookie team.
